In 1949, Roland Rasmussen promised to become the pastor if God would save his father's life. The next September, Roland left his family and his career in engineering to prepare for the ministry. On one of his many trips to Bob Jones University, he met Margaret Wilkerson. The two fell in love, married, completed their training, and returned to California in 1958 where they served on staff at a church.
In 1960, a newly started church in Canoga Park asked Roland Rasmussen to be their pastor. After their son, Mark, spent just one year at a local public school, Pastor and Margaret Rasmussen purposed in their heart to start a Christian school where children would be taught to love God, to appreciate their freedom, and to excel in academics.
Roland and Margaret Rasmussen began Faith Baptist School with these defining goals as an educational ministry of Faith Baptist Church. In, 1963, Faith Baptist Schools began with 77 students enrolled in kindergarten, first, and second grade.
The goal of Faith Baptist Schools remains unchanged: to give each student an excellent education and a truly Christian foundation.
